Not every stoppage takes the same work
A soft obstruction near an exterior cleanout may clear quickly. Dense roots, grease, scale, foreign material, a long private run, or a blockage beyond a difficult transition can require different equipment and repeated passes.
- Mechanical cable versus hydro jetting
- Pipe length, diameter, and material
- Toilet removal or buried cleanout access
- Camera inspection before or after cleaning
Ask what counts as a completed cleaning
The estimate should state the access point, cleaning method, approximate line coverage, limits on repeated passes, and whether debris removal or video confirmation is included. Cleaning restores flow but does not repair a crack, offset, belly, or collapse.
